HDHHS to offer help at multi-service centers, WIC clinics

All Houston Department of Health and Human Services multi-service centers will open Saturday. September 3 to begin serving as information and referral resources for Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
Also, four Women, Infant and Children (WIC) clinics will also open Saturday. At the multi-service centers, HDHHS staff will help evacuees fill out applications for food stamps and FEMA and Social Security benefits. The staff will also provide referrals to pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, shelters, churches and food pantries. The multi-service centers will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m and include:

The WIC clinics will open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to provide vouchers for nutritious foods to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, women who have given birth in the last six months and children up to age five who have nutrition health-related problems.
