People receiving SNAP and D-SNAP benefits can now buy double the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers’ markets organized at five Houston Health Department multi-service centers.

The Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS) will distribute 100 portable air conditioners to Houston-area needy seniors. Reliant Energy made the program possible with a $20,000 donation to purchase the air conditioners.
People diagnosed or at risk for diabetes can enroll in free fitness, nutrition and cooking classes sponsored in January and February by the Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS).
