Tetanus is a serious disease that can occur when wounds or breaks in the skin lead to an exposure to tetanus. C. tetani spores are common in the environment. Staying current with your immunizations will reduce your risk of vaccine-preventable diseases.

Follow these safety tips to ensure your health while clearing debris from your property.

  • Wear Sturdy Work Boots and Gloves: Protect your hands and feet from sharp objects and hazardous materials.
  • Wash Your Hands Frequently: Use soap and clean water to wash your hands thoroughly and often to prevent infections.
