A free opening reception for a juried art exhibit featuring works created by people with disabilities is set for Friday, July 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, 1475 West Gray.
The Art League of Houston invites people with disabilities to submit artworks for a juried fine arts show at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, 1475 West Gray.
Copies of five books that help people deal with the challenges of providing care to an elderly relative or friend are now available at area libraries.
"Healing Energies," an exhibition of art created by people with severe disabilities, will be on display at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, 1475 West Gray, from July 18 to August 16. Display hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays.
Volunteer drivers are needed to help deliver hot nutritious meals to home-bound elderly citizens served by a network of Meals on Wheels providers sponsored by the Houston/Harris County Area Agency on Aging.
The Houston/Harris County Area Agency on Aging in conjunction with the Houston/Galveston Area Agency on Aging and the Texas Department of Insurance will sponsor six Medicare HMO Withdrawal Meetings to counsel beneficiaries on making a smooth transition to the remaining health care options for 2001.
