The community garden program was started to show Houstonians how we can grow nutritious foods and give our neighborhoods a chance to participate in the process. Program consist of volunteers who help with planting, watering, and harvesting the community garden. Harvest is available to you and the community.

The community relations specialist helps clients connect with services such as emergency food, emergency assistance with rent and utilities, medical support, job readiness workshops, and other issues affecting clients.
Diabetes Awareness and Wellness Network

The DAWN Center provides free diabetes self-management education and many other health related services to Houstonians in order to reduce and prevent chronic disease.
Houston Food Bank — Senior Program

The Houston Food Bank provides food assistance to seniors of age 60+ and families with children under five years of age on a monthly basis. An educational component is incorporated as one of the requirements to participate.
Legal Help for Seniors

Advocate Legal offers training for those who are legal guardians or just starting the process. It also offers help using government, public, consumer, geriatric care, and senior housing assistance programs.
Lift Zone (Hotspot Internet Access)
Comcast Lift Zones provide free hotspot internet access to help students get online, participate in distance learning, and do their homework.
Mayor's Assistance Office

The Mayor's Assistance Office functions in a customer service capacity to ensure that City of Houston services are delivered to neighborhoods. Investigates problems and quickly reports to the proper department to be solved within a reasonable period of time. Also provides support to groups involved with community development activities and works directly with civic clubs, neighborhood organizations, schools, and churches. Serves as an information and referral source.

The resource center is available for use by residents in the area. The center is equipped with computers, phones, and other resources pertinent to the community. Clients can access information on emergency food, emergency assistance with rent and utilities, medical support, job readiness, transportation services, and other issues affecting them.
UH Third Ward Initiative

The UH Third Ward Initiative is first and foremost a collaborative partnership with the Third Ward community. University of Houston faculty, administrators, staff and students from almost every academic college and administrative division will combine their intellectual talents and physical energies to forge a sustainable partnership that demonstrably improves the quality of life in our shared neighborhood by improving educational outcomes, securing jobs, developing and strengthening businesses, and celebrating the arts, culture and history of the area.
