Avance Head Start provides early education to children of low-income families who are three to five years old by Sept. 1 of the program year. We provide an array of support activities such as workforce development, general education, counseling, case management, job readiness services, and disaster relief assistance. We aim to educate clients on the various soft skills needed in acquiring and maintaining a job and assist with acquiring employment. To that end, we partner with vocational schools, trade schools, colleges, and community colleges to help educate our clients while providing them an opportunity to gain a skill or trade.

The Financial Empowerment Center provides one-to-one, professional financial counseling to Houstonians at no cost to residents. It is staffed by professionally-trained financial counselors who will help individuals and families to better manage their finances, pay down debt, increase savings, establish and build credit, and access safe and affordable mainstream banking products.

The Houston Food Bank provides food assistance to seniors of age 60+, and families with children under five years of age on a monthly basis. An educational component is incorporated as one of the requirements to participate.

Functions in a customer service capacity to ensure that City of Houston services are delivered to neighborhoods. Investigates problems and quickly reports to the proper department to be solved within a reasonable period of time. Also provides support to groups involved with community development activities and works directly with civic clubs, neighborhood organizations, schools and churches. Serves as an information and referral source.
